Monica Bellon Harn is a professor of speech-language pathology at Appalachian State University. She earned her Ph.D at LSU and has over 80 peer-reviewed research publications.

Monica has long anticipated turning her writing skills to fiction, and she started seriously developing her creative process about ten years ago, drawing inspiration from her life spent along the industrial corridor spanning the gulf region from Beaumont, Texas to New Orleans, Louisiana. 

The characters in her debut novel, TERMS OF DEPARTURE, were originally developed from a flash fiction piece titled "HuffPost Lifestyle" published in The Bookends Review and from a short story titled "Tahyo" in Barely South Review. Monica has also published short stories in literary journals including trampset, The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature, Muse/A Journal, Freshwater Literary Journal, and Evening Street Review & Press.
